The Graduate Admissions Counselor is an entry\-level position in the Office of Admissions that oversees a general caseload of applications, and plays a critical role in guiding prospective graduate students from inquiry to enrollment shaping a holistic and personalized admissions experience for qualified students who would benefit from matriculation at the Pratt Institute. This position works closely with the Associate Director of Graduate Admissions to streamline graduate admissions processes. An essential member of the admissions team, the Graduate Admissions Counselor will process applications, build relationships with prospective students, ensure seamless communication through the admissions process, support the internal processes for event facilitation, and collaborate with the admissions communications team to support contact strategies. The role requires a solution\-oriented mindset, adaptability, willingness to collaborate, and an ability to learn admissions systems and education trends.Examples of Duties
•
+ Manage and process graduate domestic and international applications with keen attention to detail to ensure all materials align with application requirements
+ Verify the accuracy of submitted materials including but not limited to, transcripts, test scores, and statement of purpose
+ Convert student GPAs to a U.S. 4\.0 scale when needed
+ Maintain proficiency in global education systems to accurately evaluate international and domestic documentation
+ Utilize CRM systems and databases to track student interactions and application statuses
+ Stay current on industry trends and best practices of the profession of college admission counseling
+ Other duties as assigned by supervisor
Application Process:
•
+ Provide personalized, proactive guidance to prospective students throughout the admissions process
+ Serve as the primary point of contact fielding communication to and from students for the admissions process
+ Build and maintain strong and trusting relationships with students, answer questions, help understand eligibility requirements, admissions policies, and a student's path to enrollment
+ Maintain a strong understanding and accurate account of information about the academic programs, student services, financial aid processes, and the Pratt community
+ Maintain multiple points of contact with students throughout the enrollment process
+ Serve as a liaison for the student with offices across campus including: student financial services, health services, the registrar and a particularly strong emphasis on facilitating connections between the student and the graduate academic departments
+ Develop cultural awareness to advise students with empathy and understanding cultural nuances

Prospective Student Engagement:
•
+ Support with the development and execution of prospective graduate student events which will include information sessions hosted by admissions and information sessions hosted by academic departments
+ Create and manage event templates and RSVP forms in the CRM
+ Track event RSVPs to ensure accurate data is collected and share RSVP lists with departments in advance of events
+ Maintain event portals in both the CRM and on the website
+ Curate and update automated event communications
+ Participate and attend in\-person and virtual events and information sessions

Event Logistics and Communications Support:
•
+ Create, manage and send general email communications to graduate prospects at various stages of the admissions process in collaboration with the graduate communications team
+ Nurture prospective students through strategic one on one correspondence including phone calls, emails, and text messages to support them through their inquiry, applicant, admitted and committed student journey

Contact \& Communications Strategy:
•
+ Develop and maintain relationships with graduate department representatives to ensure each student has a seamless application process
+ Work closely with the enrollment team and key college stakeholders to create a collaborative approach to admissions and create a positive student applicant experience
+ Collaborate with the admissions communications team to support outreach strategy for graduate students

Relationship Building \& Department Collaboration:

+ Utilize Slate to track and maintain student records
+ Create and manage event information in Slate
+ Manage data for reporting purposes

CRM Management:

+ Commit to consistent training to stay proficient in the institute's degree programs, admissions requirements, policies, and technology systems
+ Keep up to date with industry trends and best practices to remain competitive in the higher education space

Professional Development:
Qualifications
• Bachelor's degree from a four\-year accredited institution
• Excellent written and oral communication skills
• Proficient in or willingness to learn various databases and CRM systems
• Ability to think critically, analyze information, and make actionable recommendations
