Job Description
The Pereira laboratory is seeking a Research Assistant II to be a member of our teams focused on cutting\-edge research in computational and behavioral neuroscience through the development and implementation of software for behavioral analysis. As a Research Assistant II, the incumbent can work at the intersection of neuroscience and artificial intelligence, utilizing the latest technologies to extract quantitative measures of unrestrained behavior across animals and humans. The Research Assistant II will assist with the implementation of the software used to analyze multi\-terabyte\-scale datasets at unprecedented resolution. Working closely with software engineers and research scientists, they will assist in the development of a deep learning\-based software framework (SLEAP) and its ecosystem.

Research and Lab Support
• Carries out tasks pertaining to data annotation, and development and implementation of computational pipelines in Python.
• Carries out tasks pertaining to software development.
• Participates in team meetings to discuss project progress.
• May coordinate with other Salk labs.
• May assist with supervision of undergraduate students and other lab members.
• May perform additional duties as required.
What we Require
• Bachelor’s degree in neuroscience, physics, computer science, bioinformatics, or related field.
• Academic or professional experience with software engineering, or demonstrable experience through personal work.
• Intermediate programming experience in Python.

Preferred:
• Master’s degree or post\-baccalaureate certification in related field.
• Experience with basic DevOps for software engineering.
• Proficiency with deploying applications on major cloud providers (e.g., AWS, GCP)
• Proficiency with containerization (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes)
• Proficiency with frontend frameworks (e.g., Svelte, React, Angular, Vue)
• Proficiency with data science and deep learning frameworks (e.g., TensorFlow, PyTorch, or Jax).
• Experience with behavioral analysis software (e.g., SLEAP, MoSeq, JAABA, SimBA, A\-SOiD, BENTO, MARS, Anipose, BORIS, etc.)
