team.Job Summary
The internal auditor’s primary responsibility is to periodically examine the records of every significant function of the Bank to ensure that (1\) regulatory and legal requirements are being complied with, (2\) internal controls and safeguards are in place, and are adequate, effective, and efficient, (3\) policies and procedures are being followed, (4\) generally accepted accounting practices are being followed, (5\) independent evaluations of ongoing operations are provided to management, and (6\) assistance is provided to the external auditors.What you can expect to work on
• Verifies compliance with policies set forth by management and/or the Board of Directors.
• Independently researches regulations for updates and tests to ensure the Bank is compliant (TILA, RESPA, BSA, GLBA, Reg CC, Reg E, Reg DD, HMDA, etc.).
• Maintains general awareness of regulatory agency priorities, recent enforcement actions, and stays abreast of changes to regulatory guidance and exam manuals (OCC, CFPB, FFIEC, etc.).
• Partners closely with the Bank’s Compliance department to remain at the forefront of Regulatory compliance and to ensure proper scope alignment and adequate procedures for compliance audits.
• Provides updates on Regulatory Compliance matters to the Internal Audit Team, or at least a quarterly basis.
• Attend and/or lead meetings with Federal Regulators regarding Banking compliance matters.
• Verifies that the records of the bank are complete and accurate, and that transactions are properly recorded.
• Verifies completeness and accuracy of documentation related to Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation Improvement Act (FDICIA) / Sarbanes\-Oxley (SOX).
• Plans, performs, and reports on the design and operating effectiveness of financial reporting controls under FDICIA / SOX.
• Recommends financial and operational improvement suggestions for the Bank.
• Performs timely follow\-up on significant findings identified through audit procedures.
• Assists other Internal Audit Department members as needed on various operational, compliance and information technology audits.
• Assists management as needed with the development of remediation/action plans.
• Occasionally provides advisory services to management regarding Regulatory Compliance matters, when possible to maintain appropriate independence.
• Prepares reports for presentation to management and the Audit Committee of the Board of Directors based upon findings discovered during internal audits.
• Assists with annual risk assessment process to ensure appropriate coverage of all relevant items in the audit plan.
• Provides assistance to external auditors and examiners.
• Verifies that assets and liabilities are properly disclosed in the financial statements.
• Verifies revenue is properly recognized.
• Verifies that expenses are authorized, correct in amount, and consistent with bank policy.
• Trains employees and makes presentations to the Board as needed to meet regulatory requirements.
• Miscellaneous other duties as assigned.
What you offer us
• Juris Doctor (JD), Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Internal Auditing, or related field required. At least three (3\) years Internal Auditing experience in a banking environment auditing Regulatory Compliance is preferred. Certified Regulatory
• Compliance Manager (CRCM) – Preferred, Certified Internal Auditor (CIA) or Certified Anti\-Money Laundering Specialist (CAMS).
Work Environment
• This position will be a hybrid\-based schedule with a combination of in\-office and remote work.
• This position will be based out of our Corporate Headquarters on I\-435 and Holmes Road.
